2026 Research

How GTA clinics actually perform on search, insurance, and conversion.

We analyzed 100 dental, physiotherapy, chiropractic, and allied-health clinics across 10 GTA regions on 20+ visibility and conversion metrics. Here is what we found - and what the top performers do differently.

Key findings

What the data shows.

23%

of GTA clinics mention direct billing on their homepage

The other 77% leave insured patients guessing.

41%

have an incomplete Google Business Profile

Missing services, outdated hours, or no weekly posts.

68%

lack a dedicated insurance or coverage page

Patients searching "does [clinic] take my insurance" find nothing.

12%

have structured their site for AI search visibility

Most clinics are invisible to ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.

Category scores

Where GTA clinics score highest and lowest.

Search Visibility

34/100

Most GTA clinics rank for their own name but not for the service and neighbourhood searches that bring new patients. Only 29% have dedicated treatment or condition pages.

Local Visibility

48/100

Google Business Profile completion varies widely. Clinics with 50+ reviews and weekly posts consistently outrank those without, regardless of website quality.

Insurance Messaging

22/100

This is the biggest gap across the board. Most clinics that accept direct billing do not communicate it clearly online. The ones that do report meaningfully higher new-patient conversion.

Patient Conversion

41/100

Online booking, visible phone numbers, and clear CTAs vary dramatically. The top quartile of clinics make booking possible in two clicks. The bottom quartile require a phone call during business hours.

AI Search Readiness

18/100

Almost no GTA clinics are structured for AI search. FAQ blocks, direct-answer page openings, and entity schema are present on fewer than 15% of the clinics analyzed.

The biggest finding

Insurance messaging is the widest gap in GTA clinic marketing.

Across all 100 clinics, insurance messaging scored lowest at an average of 22/100. Most clinics that accept direct billing do not say so on their homepage, their Google Business Profile, or their search snippet. The small percentage that do report meaningfully higher new-patient conversion rates.

This gap exists because most marketing agencies treat insurance as an operational detail, not a patient-acquisition advantage. Our research shows it is the single most underused conversion lever in GTA healthcare marketing.

What top-performing clinics do differently

  • Name the carriers they direct-bill on the homepage hero
  • Maintain a dedicated insurance/benefits page
  • Mention direct billing in their Google Business Profile
  • Run benefits-deadline campaigns in November-December
  • Verify coverage before the patient arrives
